Jump to RecipeI admit it, I drink a green smoothie almost every morning for breakfast. It’s just a super fast way to fit in a ton of nutrition with little to no effort. It seems though, like green smoothies can be so focused on packing in the nutrition that we forget all about the flavor and before you know it you are choking it down a salad from the blender without enjoyment.
Anyone know what I’m talking about?
This green smoothie recipe is jam packed with goodness and seriously delivers in the flavor category. My 4 year old LOVES it, so when she’s gushing over spinach I know we’re winning.
High in plant based protein and healthy fats with the coconut and almonds, this morning power house will keep you energized all the way until lunch. The spinach and pineapple deliver big on calcium and antioxidants, so drink this down and feel good about it.
Oh, and don’t be surprised when your kids are begging you for spinach for breakfast!
The key is to buy unsweetened coconut flakes and raw almonds, which many grocery stores have now and all health food stores should carry. Not only are both much more healthful than sweetened and roasted coconut and almonds, but they will blend much better creating a think, luscious green smoothie.
If you have trouble finding the coconut or almonds at your local store, check out Thrive Market. They’re a great online resource for all of your whole food, healthful pantry staples.
